HIDDINK REMEHKAN INGGRIS

Pelatih timnas Rusia, Guus Hiddink, hari Rabu menyatakan bahwa saingannya di Grup E, Inggris, tidak pantas lolos ke Euro 2008. Tim asuhan Steve McClaren itu baru bisa lolos ke putaran final Kejuaraan Eropa di Austria dan Swiss bila Rusia kalah dari Israel dalam pertandingan kualifikasi hari Sabtu dan Inggris menang atas Kroasia.

Tetapi, pelatih asal Belanda itu yakin para pemainnya akan merebut tiga poin di Tel Aviv.

"Bila kami menganalisa grup ini dan tim-timnya, maka Inggris tidak pantas lolos. Rusia selama ini konsisten," kata Hiddink dalam wawancara dengan the Daily Express.

Rusia mengalahkan Inggris 2-1 bulan lalu, sehingga masa depan McClaren menjadi pusat spekulasi menjelang laga kualifikasi Rabu mendatang di Inggris melawan pimpinan grup, Kroasia.

"Saya tenang dan santai. Kami tahu bahwa bila kami menang, maka kami akan lolos ke Euro 2008. Sederhana saja. Nasib kami berada di tangan kami sendiri. Saya tidak cemas. Saya fokus sepenuhnya."

"Bagi saya, ini sama dengan suatu final Piala Dunia. Kami sudah maju demikian jauh di grup ini sebagai suatu negara yang tidak mungkin bagi kami untuk gagal di Israel. Bila kami menganalisa grup ini dan tim-timnya, maka Inggris tidak layak lolos. Rusia selama ini konsisten," katanya.

Ia menambahkan, "Anda menilai keberhasilan dengan cara siapa yang lolos. Bila kami pada akhirnya mengungguli Inggris, maka tidak ada seorang pun yang akan berkata bahwa kami tidak layak. Ini bukan merupakan hal yang aneh."
