Microsoft telah membuka spesifikasi teknis struktur file biner dari file² yang diproduksi oleh program² dalam Microsoft Office Suite. Langkah yang diambil Microsoft ini bertujuan untuk memungkinkan interoperabilitas antara perangkat lunak Microsoft Office dengan perangkat lunak lain.

Hampir dipastikan, langkah Microsoft ini akan membuat program free & open-source yang bernama OpenOffice akan semakin compatible dengan Microsoft Office.

Tentunya hal ini adalah suatu yang sangat menggembirakan.

Microsoft Office Binary File Format Documents

The Microsoft Office file formats documentation provides detailed technical specifications for Microsoft Office file formats (namely, file formats for Microsoft Office Word 2007, Microsoft Office Excel 2007 and Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, all with Service Pack 1 applied).

Setahu saya yang berformat akhiran x diatas kayak docx, dll
merupakan file kompresi yang isinya file xml...
coba aja buka pakek winrar atau yang sejenisnya...

Sampai hari ini, hal paling mengejutkan gw dari windows 7 adalah, dibuka nya gerbang selebar lebar nya untuk mengakses file2 windows 7 untuk publik. Almost open source lah.

Gw ga tau apa yang ada dipikirannya tapi windows 7 nantinya malah keluar dalam versi kopongan, core version doang, untuk library software dan lain hal, semuanya bener bener di pegang oleh user sendiri.

Bahkan setau gw mereka gak akan menyertakan browser dan media player!

cek lagi waktu si steve balmer bilang kalo m$ melakukan revolusi marketing, itu penjabarannya ky penjabaran gw diatas. gw aja langsung nyalain rokok waktu bacanya ( gak ada hubungannya sama rokok juga sih.. )
