[Preview] Nvidia Forceware – Vista Gaming *Syntethic Benchmark*

Nvidia mengalami kesulitan dalam mengeluarkan driver official WHQL untuk Windows Vista. Entah ada perselisihankah antara Nvidia dengan Microsoft, hingga pihak Nvidia begitu lama mengeluarkan driver video card. Sekilas kok Microsoft agak secretive ya.

Riset mereka tentang forceware Vista sudah mulai menemukan titik cerah. Kabar baik untuk versi 100.65 ini mampu meladeni aplikasi 3D di Vista dengan penyempurnaan kestabilan dan …. anda akan menjumpai tulisan WHQL di Dxdiag. Dari pihak Nvidia sendiri belum berani memastikan bahwa driver 100.65 (terakhir yang kami dapat) sudah sepenuhnya Vista ready.

Tak ada salahnya kami mencoba mengeksplorasi bagaimana gaming di Vista itu. Kembali momok tentang requirement Vista yang, …. he he, ah, -untuk asumsi terburuk- ya seperti yang sudah di preview ATI Catalyst Vista, maka forceware kami uji lagi di system memory yang “hanya” 1GB saja.

Saya mendapatkan sumbangan dari seorang sahabat yang bersedia menguji as I requested. Mengingat sulitnya manajemen instalasi game untuk komparasi secara head to head di Windows Vista dan di Windows XP, maka kami pilih keluarga Futuremark saja sebagai perwakilan. Seandainya saja saya bisa meminjam kartu grafis Nvidia ini dari sahabat saya, maka tentunya akan saya sertakan marathon pengujian secara real gaming, head to head. Tetapi mengingat berbagai hal, kami hanya bisa menguji 3DMark03, 3DMark05 dan 3DMark06 baik di Vista maupun di XP. Semoga nanti kalo ada kesempatan bisa marathon bench real gaming.

Tidak ada banyak perubahan di control panel Forceware Vista. Sepertinya para pemakai kartu grafis Nvidia sudah familiar. Dan, untuk menyingkat kalimat, kita langsung ke: ….. pengujian

Pengen nyiksa dikit lagi dengan memory value saya, setidaknya 800 cl4 akan membawa terbang E6600 mas Wawan ke 3.6Ghz. Harap dimaklumi mengingat memory ddr2-533 yang mungkin sedikit sulit jalan di 800. Final, bus 321Mhz dan fsb 1284Mhz adalah pilihan terbaik untuk performance dan kestabilan.

Table Result

Gap performance antara Windows Vista denga Windows XP kecil sekali. Secara synthetic, benchmark keluarga Futuremark tersebut cukup valid untuk stressing real time 3D rendering. Dan … efisiensi CPU usage, nampak jelas dengan Forceware Vista ini, CPU score nampak semua di dominasi untuk bench under Windows Vista. Walau pihak Nvidia belum yakin akan compatibility dari Forceware ini, tapi secara performance kami acungi jempol, identik dengan driver WHQL XP. Good job Nvidia!

Ada yang tahu driver ini sudah support SLI di Vista? Minta feedback rekan-rekan pengguna SLI, dalam hal ini sharing info akan kampatibilitas.

Penutup, Forceware 100.65 mantab Mungkin Nvidia akan segera mendapatkan final driver untuk Vista. Tidaklah lama lagi. Kami pribadi menyarankan untuk siap dengan system memory setidaknya sebesar 2GB untuk "Vista gaming" di masa mendatang.
