Tarif Internet Turun 20-40 Persen Juli 2008



Surabaya, (ANTARA News) - Menteri Komunikasi dan Informatika (Menkominfo), Mohammad Nuh mengatakan tarif internet mulai bulan Juli 2008 turun antara 20-40 persen.

"Saat ini sedang dikembangkan program 'information accsess ability' yang diharapkan bisa menjangkau masyarakat luas," katanya usai pencanangan Kampus Universitas Surabaya (Ubaya) sebagai i-campus, Sabtu.

Menurut dia, "information accsess ability" tersebut harus mencakup ketersediaan infrastruktur, keterjangkauan dan kesiapan masyarakat.Saat ini tahap yang dilalui baru tahap infrastruktur.

Dia mengatakan rencana tersebut tidak merugikan penyedia jasa layanan internet karena mempermudah layanan perizinan secara cepat.

"Kalau dahulu untuk mendapatkan ijin, harus dicek secara teknis, tapi sekarang hanya diberi kepercayaan," katanya.

Menkominfo menambahkan bahwa dengan kapasitas "backbone" internet yang ada sekarang, penurunan tarif merupakan sesuatu yang logis.

Penurunan tarif internet itu diharapkan tidak hanya terjadi pada Juli 2008 mendatang saja, namun juga akan diikuti dengan penurunan tarif internet pada tahap-tahap berikutnya, apalagi jika proyek Palapa Ring II selesai pada tahun 2008.*(*)
