Sofyan dikatakan akan menemui Singtel menyangkut fibre optic submarine. "Singtel itu kan punya 96 core untuk serat optik bawah laut, tapi kalau dari Indonesia untuk terhubung dengan mereka itu susah dan mahal. Satu core itu US$ 24 juta. Pak Menteri bilang itu terlalu mahal dan tidak masuk akal," ujar Sapto.

Pertemuan Kominfo dengan SingTel itu diharapkan bisa membuahkan kerjasama dan saling pengertian. Hasilnya diharapkan bisa membantu menurunkan harga koneksi internet di Indonesia.

Pemerintah saat ini juga telah membuka tender untuk mengadakan sambungan internet internasional. Sofyan mengatakan sambungan itu akan dibangun ke lima titik, namun Sofyan tidak menjelaskan secara rinci titik-titik yang dimaksud.

"Cita-cita Presiden, Indonesia harus bisa lebih bagus dari Filipina dan Vietnam. Pada 2009, harus lebih bagus dari Thailand," ujar Sapto menirukan ucapan Menkominfo. (wsh)(wsh)

Beh...gwe kok pesimis. Indonesia emang lucu, sudah jual Indosat ke SingTel sekarang malah "ngemis" lagi...kagak tau malu bener2 ^^;;

2009 lebih bagus dari Thailand?? Ngimpi kali ye~~~ . Thailand itu infrastruktur internetnya sudah mampu membuat EA mempercayakan server official on-line gaming cabang Thailand ^^;; Seingat gwe untuk game BF2 aja ada 2 atau 3 server @32 player...^^;;; Itu yang official, belum yang swasta ^^;;

Tapi kalau bener bisa begitu gwe mau banget...walaupun 90% gwe yakin ini paling cuman sebatas rencana dan omong2 doang ^^;; Coba aja liat kasus Nusantara 21...ilang nggak jelas ...

Wakz masa dengan hanya bertemu saja harga awal 24 juta bisa tiba2 turun jadi 12 juta.Gimana sih ini si Pak Menteri?Kenapa sih kita ngak mengoptimalkan yang sudah ada saja?Kayak Telkomnet, kenapa sih itu provider nga dimurahin aja biayanya jadi 3000/jam, pasti banyak yang make, dan bisa mengulur waktu pemerintah buat nyari provider yang lebih baik lagi?
