Menurut rumor yang diberitakan oleh Xbitlabs, AMD sedang menerapkan sebuah teknologi dymanic performance boost ke dalam prosesor hexa-core terbaru mereka yang bernama Phenom II X6 dengan codename "Thuban". Teknologi ini disebut “C-state performance boost”, dan cara bekerjanya bisa dikatakan mirip dengan teknologi Intel Turbo Boost, dimana ketika kinerja single thread sedang sangat diperlukan, prosesor Thuban akan secara otomatis menonaktifkan core yang idle (tidak bekerja) lalu kemudian mengoverclock core yang diperlukan ke tingkat yang maksimal. Jika rumor ini benar, ini akan menjadi sesuatu yang berdampak besar bagi AMD dan tentu saja menjadi modal yang bagus untuk bersaing dengan Intel.
