Kali ini review hardware yang tidak "umum" direview di GX, menyangkut soal networking baik wired maupun wireless

mungkin ada yg bertanya-tanya...

Ini merupakan Router yang juga sekaligus merangkap/memiliki Access Point (AP) built -in

Router handal yang memang dapat diandalkan meskipun teknologinya tergolong uzur, dari sekian banyak type yang di rebranding, Prosesor dan hardware didalamnya sama saja dengan tipe lain yang sejenis (WRT54G, WRT54GS, WRT54, etc)

mungkin lagi-lagi ada yg bertanya...
jadi apabila di rumah / kantor / lingkungan anda banyak terdapat PC/Gadget/Consoles dan segala macam perangkat keras lainnya yang berbasis Internet Protokol (IP) dapat saling terkoneksi

Intinya, alat ini terdapat 4 koneksi RJ-45 10/100mbps, kl ngga ngerti ya itu untuk LAN, yang seperti anda ketahui. Mode Wired alias masih kabel.

dan support Wireless A/B/G

IEEE 802.11b = 11mbps
IEEE 802.11g = 54mbps

... masih mudeng?

Punya Komputer? pasti punya...
Punya Broadband Internet? ya ngga kali ya, tp asal internetnya berbasis IP dan memiliki Port LAN (RJ-45/UTP), semuanya sudah siap
eh tunggu ketinggalan... punya Wii? ada Xbox/360 ? PS3? PSP? oh... NDS jangan dilupain..., waduh laptop sama PDA blom masuk... wah apa lg...? masukin aja listnya sendiri

karena berbasis IP perbedaan OS tidak akan mempengaruhi kompabilitas dari masing-masing hardware.

apabila Internet Confignya sudah ada, setting yg perlu dilakukan sama sekali tidak sulit, biasanya untuk ADSL anda tinggal mendial langsung dari Modem ADSL dan dari modem tinggal dicolok kabel LAN ke Port WAN di ruter, sama seperti Modem Cable.

Aktifkan DHCP Server dan selesai
meskipun ada hal lain yg perlu dilakukan mungkin untuk bbrp Gadget lainnya

anda bs mengakses network, saling berbagi data baik wired maupun wireless
keuntungan wireless selain lebih ringkas jg lebih mudah untuk di atur. Kelemahannya Bandwith/Speed/akses akan terasa lebih lambat dibandingkan mode wired, tetapi hal itu hanya terasa pada saat anda mentransfer file berukuran besar.

Untuk kecepatan internet 54mbps sudah sangat berlebihan (blom ada jg Internet di Indonesia sampe berpuluh2 mbps )

Mungkin banyak yang merasa bahwa networking di rumah merupakan hal yang tidak perlu... meskpun memang dirasakan tidak terlalu perlu, tetapi untuk rumah yang banyak memiliki banyak hardware/gadget investasi sebesar Rp. 600.000,- bukanlah hal yang sangat mahal untuk diperoleh.

manfaatnya jg bs dirasakan sendiri
daripada mengunakan internet sendiri2 lebih baik menggunakan ISP yang agak mahal tp "patungan" bayar.

Consoles dan handheld-pun bs online...
Ga perlu ribet2 ke atas misalnya cuma untuk copy data, karena kabel kepanjangan.

Sebenernya banyak banget yg mau dibahas lg... cuma untuk saat ini sampai sini aja dulu.

Last Note
meskipun banyak sekali Wireless Access point / Router yang tersedia di pasaran, WRT54GL ini merupakan pilihan yang sangat bijak daripada anda membeli alat lainnya yang berharga lebih mahal

meski tidak mendukung wireles N (kecepatan max 248mbps), karena hardware yang ada juga tidak banyak yang mendukung sampai 248mbps. Investasi anda akan terbuang sia-sia untuk saat ini.

Selain itu jg alat ini bs menjadi Client Wireless , jd apabila dilingkungan anda terdapat akses hotspot gratis dan sinyalnya kuat, anda bs "numpang" Internetan ato sekedar browsing Internat dan mengakses komputer lainnya yg sedang mengakses...

Tapi ati2 kalo pas lagi hujan dan ada petirnya. Padahal petirnya nun jauh di atas, tp mgkn jg gara2 pake koneksi wireless ke provider. Punya ane yg WRT54, jebol gara2 telat nyabut. Tp mending itunya hancur daripada kompi gw
