Processor Intel terbaru akan mendapatkan nama baru dari keluarga low-power design processor nya yang berusaha untuk menyasar para pengguna mobile internet. Keluarga baru processor intel ini menggunakan pondasi baru untuk pabrikasi, pondasi Intel Atom.

Processor Intel Atom dibuat dengan dasar arsitektur yang di design secara spesifik untuk penggunaan pada peralatan yang kecil dan low power. Dengan tetap menggunakan dasar instruksi yang dimiliki oleh Core2Duo, processor ini juga memperbolehkan adanya aplikasi multithread dan kelancaran internet demi terjaganya pola kerja pengguna pada PC biasa ataupun pada alat yang menggunakan processor ini.

Processor yang diberi kodenama Silverthorne dan Diamondville akan di manufaktur menggunakan teknologi 45nm dengan hi-k metal gate technology. Processor ini akan memiliki 47 juta transistor dan berukuran lebih kecil dari 25mm. Memiliki TDP 0.6 watt ( bukan volt ) sampai 3 watt pada kondisi full load, dengan skala kecepatan antara 1.3 GHz sampai 1.8 GHz, atau lebih tergantung permintaan.

Intel juga memiliki Menlow sebagai yang menjadi keluarga baru Centrino, Centrino Atom.

Pertanyaan gw....
Kalo Silverthorne di khususkan bagi Ultra Mobile Personal Computer ( yang berarti bisa dibawa kemana mana dengan mudah ) Kenapa masih harus ada Centrino ? Bukannya Memang Centrino yang dikhususkan untuk kegiatan Mobile ? Jika begitu Silverthorne untuk apa ? Mungkinkan Silverthorne menjadi salah satu super-oc able processor di kemudian hari seperti hal nya hype Conroe waktu itu ? Jika processornya Jozzy bisa jalan dan highly overclocked dengan 1 volt saja, jangan jangan itu termasuk salah satu cikal bakal atom ?

lah gw khan dapet info nya dari luar..
