Setelah hampir setengah bulan berkutat dengan semua problem yang ada...
akhirnya saya siap untuk me-review Performa Chipset AMD780G untuk Gamexeon

Review kali ini mungkin review terpanjang yang pernah saya buat sepanjang sejarah di Gamexeon...
Karena banyak sekali hal penting yg perlu di review ...

Hi

Buat semua orang yg penasaran dengan kemampuan salah satu Chipset terbaru AMD seri 7xx, meski tidak terlalu dalam,diharapkan review ini bisa bermanfaat.

BIOS
Mungkin sudah banyak yang tahu bahwa Gigabyte ini khas sekali dengan hidden option atau lebih dikenal dengan Advanced Setting, dalam bios yang hanya akan muncul apabila menekan CTRL+F1 pada menu Bios utama.

Setting untuk masing-masing perihal sangat lengkap

Ketika motherboard ini saya beli, Bios yang digunakan masih BIOS revisi awal (F1).
Banyak sekali bug yg terdapat pada Bios awal, salah satu yang paling menggangu adalah tidak bisa masuk ke Bios apabila sudah mensetting Supervisor Password, password yg sudah disetting akan ditolak, dan hanya bisa dimasukin dengan memasukkan input 111 (1, 3x). tetapi menu Bios tetap terkunci.

Pada saat review ini dibuat Bios telah di update menjadi revisi F3, dan bug tsb sudah diperbaiki.

HTPC For Everyone
Ketika saya berpikir untuk mengupgrade PC, salah satu hal yg terlintas dalam pikiran adalah "SILENT" karena sebelumnya menggunakan Barton 2500+ yang disembur dengan Kipas Hicool 8Cm 5000rpm, bisa dibayangkan dengungan yang semakin hari semakin mengganggu.

Sekarang, hal tsb menjadi kenyataan. Tingkat kebisingan total dari sistem ini, sangatlah rendah, yang sangat menggangu skrg adalah suara Hardisk yang sangat jelas terdengar >_<'

Benchmark & Testing dimulai: (Semua standart non overlock)
Pertama Kinerja CPU

Kinerja Nuclearus, yang memang lebih jozz di Intel Procesor Family
rendahnya kinerja memory diakibatkan oleh fungsi Cool&Quiet AMD memaksa memory hanya menggunakan 200Mhz(400Mhz DDR) bandwith dari yang seharusnya 400Mhz(800Mhz DDR), apabila mematikan fungsi tsb pada Bios dan mengganti Setting AUTO ke 800Mhz pada Memory Speed di Bios maka hal ini akan normal, konsekuensinya tentu saja PC akan terus berjalan pada clock 100% meski tidak digunakan.

Berikutnya test memory bandwith menggunakan sisoftsandra dan superpi



hasilnya bersaing dengan nForce 6100

SB700 benchmark (HDD, USB)
HDD Benchmark

HDD cache yg digunakan hanyalah 8MB, kemungkinan tidak optimalnya transfer rate HDD menjadi bottleneck no. 1 pada sistem ini, namun fluktuasinya tidak terpaut jauh antara minimum dan maksimum.

USB Benchmark

Pertama saya menggunakan USB HDD bukan tanpa alasan, yang ingin saya lihat adalah berapa kecepatan maksimal USB Host, bukan device/perihalnya. Karena limitasinya adalah HDD itu sendiri, dengan bandwith yang memang lebih dari itu saya memaksa agar USB dapat bekerja pada tingkat maksimalnya, yah kebetulan devicenya jg ada.

pada Test, dilihat bahwa CPU Usage yg digunakan lumayan tinggi, tp... tunggu dulu apa itu CPU Usage pada clock sesungguhnya?

ini hasil penggunaan yang sesungguhnya menggunakan Terracopy

dapat dilihat, dengan cache 1MB, kecepatan transfer dapat diboosting maksimal dan CPU bekerja pada tingkat minimal.

2. Clock yg digunakan belum pada batas maksimal (default X2 4400+ adalah 2.3Ghz)
3. Kinerja lebih tinggi pada core ke-2 (ada yg bs menjelaskan knp?)
4. Suhu GPU dan GPU load

" kok bukan H264? " saya tidak punya video beresolusi 1080, yang ada maksimal 720p, penggunaan CPU kurang lebih sama.
Untuk berapa tahun ke depan, sampai ada saatnya video format baru yg menggunakan resolusi lebih tinggi, rasanya ga perlu khawatir dengan masalah playback.
catatan bahwa mulai resolusi 720-1080, penggunaan CPU kurang lebih seperti itu, tidak bs lebih rendah.

ada 2 Test yang seharusnya masih dilanjutkan, yaitu Firewire dan LAN I/O
untuk firewire sendiri saya kurang bs mengerti test seperti apa yang harus dilakukan, karena port tsb dikhususkan untuk mengcapture handycam yang berjalan pada realtime, dan dari pengalaman yang saya alami selama mentransfer bbrp video dari handycam ke local computer berjalan dengan mulus hanya dengan Windows Movie Maker.,Colok dan Import.

untuk LAN, err maaf komputernya masih 1, yg 1 lagi masih bingung mau pakai apa...

1. Ketika membeli Motherboard maupun VGA, tidak ada 1-pun Manual mengenai caranya meng-enabled config ini... sama sekali!!!
2. Support AMD & Gigabyte..., AMD sama sekali ga membantu (Saya tanya bagaimana, mereka jawab, X itu tergantung Y ), dan Gigabyte, oh lg liburan acara Chinese Day...btw...next page on support tertulis....

3. Pada akhirnya, semuanya berada pada "keuletan" pengguna sendiri untuk mencari cara bagaimana "caranya".

ada beberapa game lagi yg ingin saya tes tetapi karena Fraps tidak kompatibel dengan Bioshock ketika sudah diupdate ke 1.1


ketika Crossfire enabled, entah mengapa image jg stuter, terasa seperti tersendat2 meski dicoba pada berbagai macam konfigurasi

Driver kah yang salah? Hardware kah? OS Kah? Manusianya kah? Settingan?
sampai tahap ini... saya sudah menyerah memaksakan menggunakan Hybrid ini

Opini saya?
Hybrid Crossfire memang berjalan, bekerja, tetapi tidak menggunakan prinsip Hybrid dimana ke-2 element berbeda berbaur menjadi 1 kesatuan untuk menghasilkan sesuatu yg lebih baik.

Crossfire disini masih menggunakan prinsip dasar crossfire, yaitu menyelaraskan hardware pada spesifikasi terendah, apabila hal tsb yang terjadi maka anomali pun akan terjadi.

Bus PCI-express 16x yang berjalan pada PCI 1.0 (32bit) akan sangat jauh sekali tingkat downgradenya, ini bukanlah HD3450+3200 (IGP), tetapi 3200+3200 dan pada tingkat bus yang sama...

tp ini cuma opini, dan saya sangat berharap bahwa opini "ngasal" ini salah besar...

Kesimpulan?
Apabila anda ingin menggunakan Motherboard dengan Chipset ini, hanya disarankan apabila anda ingin menggunakannya sebagai HTPC murni tanpa menggunakan VGA add-on tambahan, karena memang ditujukan untuk HTPC, dan mainstream user.

Bagi individu yang ingin menggunakan/mencoba/tertarik dengan fungsi Hybrid Crossfirenya janganlah berharap terlalu banyak dari kinerja yg ada.
dengan harga yg kurang lebih sama (AMD780G+HD3450), anda bs mendapatkan AMD770+3650 dengan performa jauh lebih baik dan tidak ribet seperti ini.

untuk performa IGP sendiri, AMD780G saat ini masih menjadi yang tercepat, (meski cepatnya itu untuk game DX8, dan DX9)
untuk C&C Generals bs berjalan pada native resolution 19' tanpa tersendat (1440*900)

Kinerja SB yang lumayan serta USB dan perihalnya yg sangat cepat dan stabil
Saya lupa untuk mengambil Screenshot temperatur total dari sistem ini

Perlu diperhatikan bahwa air flow dari casing haruslah bagus, karena sistem ini sangat minimal kipas, dan panas yg dihasilkan lumayan tinggi, meski sampai saat ini belum ada masalah sama sekali, ada baiknya jika anda ingin menggunakan motherboard berchipset ini menyediakan anggaran untuk membeli kipas tambahan.

Sekali lagi... apabila anda tetap berminat untuk menggunakan motherboard dengan Chipset 780G, saya sarankan untuk mencari merek lain selain Gigabyte

Seperti produk AsRock atau Biostar, atau bahkan ECS
untuk fiture yg kurang lebih sama persis (kl ga mau dibilang malah lebih lengkap)
pilihlah asrock

dibundle dengan WiFi dan Display Adapter HDMI, bagi yg memiliki LCD dengan input HDMI dan memiliki jaringan wireless, tinggal setup di ruang keluarga, dan network pun tidak perlu tarik2an kabel lg...

saya rada bete sama gigabyte, harga asli produk ini adalah $99 tetapi dijual di Indonesia sekitar $120-130, sangat overpriced IMO...
