How to Calculate GPU power (Stream Processor era) - 09-05-08, 16:32

Kalo ada yang bingung, Stream Processor saya gedhe, tapi kok lemot ya? Ato, stream processor VGA dia kecil, tapi kenceeeeng ... hehehe

Saya singkat rangkumannya saja untuk sub-forum Graphic and Display lagi dijamin habis baca ini pada "cerah". Saya urutin dari yang paling vital ampe ke yang cuma "hiasan"




1. SHADER dan FPU
... pendekatan mereka beda bro, baik Nvidia maupun ATI make cara mereka sendiri, berikut ...
Nvidia
Berlaku untuk G80, G92, dan teman2
Rumus: Stream Processor x 3 x Shader clock
Contoh: 8800GT --> 112 x 3 x 1500Mhz = 504GFlops

AMD/ATI
Generasi HD2000, HD3000 dan HD4000
Rumus: Stream Processor x 2 x Core Clock
Contoh: HD3870 --> 320 x 2 x 775MHz = 496GFlops

Makin cepet makin bagus, makin kenceng mroses Shader dan perintah2 GPU




2. FILLRATE
Terdiri dari Pixel Fillrate dan Texture Fillrate. Baik Nvidia dan ATI make rumus yang sama, yaitu unit2 untuk pixeling dan texturing dikali core clock.

Texture Fillrate --> TMUs / Texture Mapping unit
Contoh:
8800GT: 56 x 600MHz = 33.6GTexel/s
HD3870: 16 x 775MHz = 12.4GTexel/s
Kunci penting main game dengan texture gila-gilaan

Pixel Fillrate --> ROPs / Raster operation / Render back_end
Contoh:
8800GT: 16 x 600MHz = 9.6GPixel/s
HD3870: 16 x 775MHz = 12.4GPixel/s
Pixel Fillrate ini kunci saat proses frame buffer (resolusi/AA), bahu menbahu dengan Memory VGA




3. Memory Bandwidth
Rumus: ( Speed DDR VGA x Bus width ) / 8
Contoh:
8800GT: (1800 x 256) / 8 = 57.6GB/s
HD3870: (2250 x 256) / 8 = 72GB/s
Bandwidth memory VGA, makin cepet makin lebar jalurnya





Nah, sesudah paham rumus tersebut diatas, maka tabu jika anda bertanya lagi, kok punya saya pelan punya dia cepat. Kalkulasi di atas adalah sepenuhnya benar dan bisa anda buktikan sendiri di real world. Gunakan juga untuk penerawangan anda terhadap model kartu grafis lain.

sebenarnya mereka sama2 dikali 2

cuman NV bisa "co issue ALU", jadi x (2+1), model Scalar
ATI gak bisa, cuma 2 aja, karena make model VLIW

(2 flops +1 flop)*128 ALU's* shader clock core= 512 Gflops (but this is only theoretical cause the coissue isn't used all the time)

2 Flops* 5 ALU's *64 * shader clock core = 475 Gflops

sedangkan ATI stream processor gendut, lari pelan

jadi mana yang punya daya rusak tinggi?
kena panah? ato keruntuhan batu
