Di masa depan GPU akan mengalahkan CPU - 19-04-08, 15:45
Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO NVIDIA, menyarankan konsumen untuk mengurangi dana 7% untuk pembelian CPU (prosesor) namun menambah dana 14% untuk pembelian GPU (videocard).
Menurut produsen grafis no.1 di dunia tersebut, konsumen akan mendapatkan kepuasan yang lebih baik dengan mengkombinasikan CPU yang tidak terlalu powerful dengan GPU yang lebih powerful. Sebagai bukti untuk mendukung pernyataan tersebut, Huang menunjukkan larisnya notebook Gateway P-6831 FX yang merupakan notebook seharga $1349 dengan prosesor cuma Core2 Duo 1.66GHz namun dibekali chip grafis Geforce 8800M GTS. Notebook tersebut mendapat penghargaan sebagai notebook gaming terrbaik di dunia dan ludes terjual dalam waktu yang sangat cepat. Menurut Huang itu adalah salah satu contoh GPU yang powerful dapat membuat sukses sebuah produk.
Trend pergesaran dari CPU ke GPU dapat membawa pengaruh buruk bagi Intel, mengingat produsen CPU nomer 1 di dunia ini kurang berpengalaman di bidang grafis (GPU). Selama ini kinerja grafis onboard intel (GMA) tidak memuaskan dan kinerjanya sangat jauh dibawah videocard NVIDIA dan ATI.

selama 1 tahun, klo kamu ngeluarin VGA 4x lalu pasang TWIMTBP di kebanyakan game developer
hasilnya 100% untuk VGA

secara nyata, dari 2006 Q4 ampe 2008 Q2
saya spend CPU E6300 awet wet ... tapi VGA X1950Pro, HD2900XT, 8800GT, HD3870

doh


GPU akan mengalahkan CPU? saya pikir tidak ... namun keduanya akan berkobalosari, eh kolaborasi menjadi GPGPU yang nyuuz

tapi Nvidia selalu sedikit lebih maju dari pada AMD-ATI....buktinya dalam pemakaian 2 VGA. SLI muncul duluan kemudian disusul Crossfire...
