Linux Ubuntu dapat merusak hardware komputer - 10-10-08, 23:35
Ini adalah sebuah peringatan bagi pengguna operating system Linux Ubuntu dan para fans Linux.
Para calon pembeli notebook yang didalamnya terinstall OS Linux Ubuntu juga patut mewaspadai ini.
Telah dilaporkan bahwa penggunaan OS Linux Ubuntu kernel terbaru (2.6.27-rc) ternyata dapat merusak Intel network adapter.
Bug ini bahkan dapat menyebakan kerusakan secara permanen dimana network adapter tak dapat diperbaiki lagi.
Mengingat mayoritas network adapter saat ini tertanam pada motherboard (onboard) maka tragedi ini tentu akan menyebabkan seluruh PC atau notebook anda harus masuk rumah sakit.
Problem fatal ini disebabkan karena Linux Ubuntu 2.6.27-rc membuat corrupt NVRAM yang digunakan pada network adapter Intel untuk menyimpan data seperti MAC address.
Kerusakan yang muncul mayoritas terjadi pada notebook, oleh karena itu bila anda membeli notebook yang telah terinstall OS Linux sebaiknya segera dihapus dan diganti Windows, karena kodrat OS Linux pada notebook memang diciptakan untuk dihapus.
Linux memang lebih cocok bagi orang yang ingin produktifitasnya menurun dan ingin mempersulit diri sendiri dengan segala keterbatasan. Ditambah lagi dengan adanya bug yang bersifat destruktif ini, maka jelas Linux hanyalah sebuah OS "cacat" yang eksistensinya hanya akan merepotkan pengguna notebook maupun PC desktop.
