karena pc berbasis mikocok windows dan tentu saja ada directx yang terus di perbaharui, disisi laen si sweeney kan pengennya game harus bypass directx.. berati secara ga langsung kalo maw revolusi besar2an kudu develop software pipeline, and pastinnya ga mesti dengan metode harware rendering (karna metodenya akan ditinggalin dari game develop)...
so pasti mungkin lebih murah...

cuman pasti for developer buwat inovasinya .....

kaya'nya ini mengarah ke pengambil alihan CPU terhadap GPU
di masa-masa mendatang, CPU dengan core berhamburannya Intel Nehalem itu bisa render Ray Tracing seara real time lho
sepertinya Tim melihat trend ini, jadi daripada bypass CPU kaya' Crysis (ingat, high clocked quad core kita bakalan nganggur di Crysis karena semua diambil alih GPU);
maka, pendekatan dengan software pipeline dan semua diolah oleh CPU dengan banyak core (seperti arah trend masa-masa mendatang)
gitu kan ya? toh saya lihat, Unreal Engine 3 itu sementara adalah best engine yang bisa memanfaatkan multi core CPU dan balance dengan GPU
tengok aja Bioshock, GoW, MoH: A, UT3, etc (gak butuh hardware berat-berat amat)

Intinya memang di CPU Kalo dengan CPU aja rendering/rasterizing bisa jauh lebih cepat tanpa API, ini akan jadi 1 langkah breakthrough di mana dengan spek PC menengah kita bisa menikmati suatu game dengan detail yang cukup baik/indah

jadi inget game UE3 yang judulnya Roboblitz ingat 1 taun yang lalu aku bawa masternya dari Jogja, langka peredarannya
itu grafis dah keren abis ya dengan source instalasi cuma 64MB (lupa2 ngat pokoknya keciiil) wtf! ... kecil amat
CPU unwinged waktu itu AMD64 3000 dan VGA 6600GT .... efeknya se-nyata Gears of War! ... i'm not kiding
itu CPU ama GPU bekerjasama dengan ruar biasa
